PROTECTOR

PROJECT BACKGROUND

The PROTECTOR project is based on proven, transferable and adapted applied scientific research and industrial engineered development results from the EU FP5-FP6 RTD projects (www.terrenum.net/protector), which already demonstrated with success, but have not yet penetrated the market. It aims to bridge the gap between EU FP RTD and commercialisation and to move from the prototype phase on to the industrial phase. By the first industrial application of eco-innovative biotechnological process and series of creative bio-based products it is targeting recycling and reuse of food industrial waste resources.

The Terra Humana Ltd has been developed an innovative thermal recycling treatment system for high temperature 850°C carbonization of the Phosphorous rich bone meal and integrated to innovative Solid Substrate Fermentation Technology. The added value upgrade of the waste to plant available mineral nutrient product is archived by integrated thermal and biotechnological means. The production and use of ABC mineral for biotechnological solid carrier is a highly innovative carbonization method and product. The patented PROTECTOR carbonization technology is the only known technology which is capable to carbonize organic material up to 850°C material temperature, which end product is specifically manufactured for biotechnological adaptation purposes, while pyrolysis gas-vapour by-product is reformed to clean syngas energy.

The PROTECTOR process is recycling of high mineral (P, Ca) content animal bonemeal and agricultural by-products by advanced carbonization and integrated agro biotech processing means into high added value natural soil amendment and natural mineral fertilization bioproducts.

These eco-innovative products aiming bio and low input horticultural farming use, matching international product standards, advanced design requirements and high quality end-user needs. The first industrial application is aiming to install and operate liquid fermentation unit up to 4 m3/batch capacity in combination with  solid state fermentation and formulation unit of the high phosphorous content animal bone char. The PROTECTOR is planned to be managed under wider European cooperation from several counties and the benefits of the project are on wide European level, while utilizing our already existing cooperation networks in fifteen counties.
